Running is supposed to feel good. That rhythm, that headspace, that Saturday morning long run you look forward to all week. And somewhere along the way, something started hurting — and now you're running less, modifying your routes, or wondering if you're going to have to give it up altogether.

You don't have to. In most cases, running injuries are completely fixable — and more importantly, preventable. What you need isn't just rest. You need someone who actually understands how runners move, what breaks down, and how to build you back up stronger.

That's exactly what we do at Pursuit. We work with runners at every level — from someone tackling their first 5K to half marathon regulars — and we genuinely love this work.

The most common mistake runners make when something hurts.

They stop. Rest for a week or two. Feel better. Start running again. And then the same thing flares back up — sometimes worse than before.

That's because rest treats the symptom, not the cause. Runner's knee doesn't come from running too much. It comes from a hip that's not firing correctly, or a foot that's collapsing inward, or a cadence that's putting too much load on the wrong structures. Until you fix the underlying pattern, the pain is going to keep coming back every time your mileage increases.

And for Matt — who's been building toward a 10K or half marathon, finally making it a priority — the last thing he needs is to lose another training cycle to the same nagging issue. We've seen this story a hundred times. We know how to end it.

"I'd been dealing with the same knee pain for two years. Every time I tried to push my mileage, it came back. After running analysis and a few weeks of PT, I finally understood what was actually wrong — and it's been gone since."

Finding what's actually driving the pain — before building your training plan around it.

What makes us different: we watch you run.

Most PT clinics treat running injuries without ever seeing how you actually run. We think that's a little like a mechanic fixing your car without turning it on.

Our video running analysis captures your gait in slow motion so we can see exactly what's happening — your foot strike, your cadence, your hip drop, your arm swing, how your body responds when you fatigue. Things that are invisible at normal speed become obvious on video.

From there, we build a plan that addresses what we actually see — not what a generic protocol assumes. Small changes in form and mechanics can make a massive difference in both how you feel and how fast you run.

What we help runners with most.

If any of these sound familiar, you're in exactly the right place:

Runner's knee (patellofemoral pain) — that aching pain around or behind your kneecap that gets worse on downhills, stairs, and longer runs. Almost always fixable with the right approach.
IT band syndrome — sharp or burning pain on the outside of the knee that shows up like clockwork at mile 3 or 4. A hip and glute strength issue, almost every time.
Plantar fasciitis — that morning heel pain that makes the first few steps out of bed feel brutal. Very treatable, but it needs the right plan.
Shin splints & stress reactions — pain that starts as a dull ache and gets worse the more you run. Catching this early is critical — we help you keep training while addressing the underlying issue.
Hip & glute pain — hip flexor tightness, piriformis issues, and hip impingement that makes it hard to push off and maintain your pace as mileage builds.
Injury prevention & race prep — not injured but building mileage for a 5K, 10K, or half marathon? A running analysis now is the best investment you can make before your training ramps up.

Questions runners usually have.

Not necessarily — and honestly, complete rest is rarely the right answer. In most cases we can keep you running while we address the underlying issue. We adjust your load, route, and intensity intelligently so you keep your fitness and your sanity while we fix what's actually wrong.
Not at all. Whether you're training for your first 5K or your tenth half marathon, understanding how you run makes you safer and more efficient. It's actually one of the best investments you can make before you start building mileage — catch the problems before they become injuries.
Absolutely — this is actually the ideal time to come in. We can identify mechanical issues and strength imbalances before they become injuries. If you have a race on the calendar and want to get to the start line healthy, let's talk now rather than after something breaks down.
A full hour, one-on-one with your Doctor of Physical Therapy, every session. We actually watch you run — which most PT clinics never do. And your plan is built around your specific race goals and training schedule, not a generic 6-week protocol.
We're a cash-pay practice — we don't bill insurance directly. What you get in return: no visit limits, no pre-authorizations, and a full hour one-on-one every time. Most clients use HSA/FSA funds, and many receive partial out-of-network reimbursement. We're happy to walk you through pricing on your discovery call.
